Project objective
To design a web-application that makes school related tasks school registration easier, faster and more efficient.
Notes:
- Having teachers take pictures of student tests and exam scores may be a great form of accountability in cases of malpractice or human error during documentation.
- Having a not-so-shiny user interface seems like the best direction to go. Take RosarioSIS for instance. Their product is great but the UI is slightly below average by today’s standards. But the UI still works and just needs a bit of makeup here and there. Doing too much will make it harder for users to interact with the product due to distractions so take note.
- Add-ons like plugins and modules seem to be of great importance. Let’s do research on those too and how to streamline them.
Project scope
This product was made to solve the lack of digitization in tertiary institutions in Nigeria due to time and resource constraints. The “Parent” prototype isn’t necessarily needed in a tertiary institution setting but exists to showcase how a system can work seamlessly in a three-way, not just as a direct communication software like the interaction between the students and the teacher prototypes.
This will consist of a
- Website
- student portal
- teaching staff
- And an admin prototype
Research and discovery
For UX design, a competitive analysis may be a bit different from how it is used in other fields, but what matters when using tools, processes, and skills is the value that is gotten from them.
